Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir emphasised on Sunday that the fight for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is a significant struggle that demands the collective strength of a large and unified organisation.

Addressing the media during an event in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Mir, the former chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), reiterated Congress party’s unwavering commitment to this cause.

“It requires a big organisation of big forces, and for that, Congress party is already committed to its words,” Mir stated. He underscored that the struggle for the restoration of statehood is not a minor issue and that the party is fully dedicated to achieving this goal.

Mir highlighted that the JKPCC working committee has already passed resolutions at the national level, reaffirming Congress’s pledge to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. “The people must see to whom they trust,” he said, urging the public to carefully consider who is genuinely committed to this cause.

“On behalf of the Congress party, I reiterate that we are committed to our words. As we garner support, our priority will be to restore the powers and statehood of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mir added, emphasising the party’s resolve to continue its efforts in this direction.
