A Reddit group dedicated to tracking Elon Musk’s private jet has garnered more than 200,000 followers. Created in 2022, the group gained broader attention after Musk became involved in the Donald Trump administration. The group uses publicly available data to monitor the Tesla billionaire’s flights, similar to the approach taken by Jack Sweeney with his @ElonJet account.
In just the past three days, the group reports that Musk has made 10 flights, with his private jet crisscrossing the United States, traveling between Texas, Florida, and New York following Donald Trump’s election win.

Less than three years ago, Musk threatened to sue Jack Sweeney, the University of Central Florida student behind the @ElonJet Twitter bots that tracked his private jet. Sweeney used publicly available data from the US Federal Aviation Administration to track Musk’s flight routes.
Musk had even offered Sweeney $5,000 to stop tracking his jet. However, Sweeney countered with a request for $50,000 or an internship at one of Musk’s companies, but never received a response from the billionaire.
In 2022, Musk revealed that a “crazy stalker” had followed a car carrying his 2-year-old son, leading him to threaten to ban Sweeney’s @ElonJet account. At that time, many people supported Musk, arguing that private citizens should expect a reasonable degree of privacy.
