Understanding the Foundation of Our Energy System

The Root Chakra (Muladhar Chakra) is the first of the seven major chakras in our human body. It serves as the bedrock, the foundation of our energy system. This foundational chakra is pivotal in grounding us to the earth. It also governs the basic needs of food, water, shelter, survival and our sense of physical security, trust and stability.
Let’s understand the basic aspects of the root chakra to enhance and strengthen our overall well-being.

Situated at the base of the spine, the Beej Mantra for the root chakra is ‘LAM’ & the associated Red colour symbolizes vitality, strength and the primal urge for survival. The Earth element emphasizes physicality, stability and grounding. The associated sound frequency, 396 Hz, is used in sound healing to release fear, guilt, insecurity and ground excess energy. Positive affirmations like “I am safe” and “I am secure and grounded” focus on the stability, grounding and energy of the root chakra.

The root chakra also serves as the foundation for opening the higher chakras. By nurturing the root chakra, we can promote a deep connection to the physical world. By regularly engaging in holistic balancing practices, through meditation, yoga or crystal healing or other holistic practices, we can enhance our sense of security and stability for a balanced and harmonious life.
Let’s explore various ways to harmonize this vital energy center.

Crystals like red jasper, hematite and black tourmaline are known for grounding properties. These stones are believed to stabilize one’s energy and promote feelings of security.

Balasana (Child’s Pose) are effective in activating the root chakra. These poses help promoting stability & grounding and strengthen the connection to the earth..
