This marks the second consecutive year that Governor Das has been recognized with this top rating, reflecting his continued success in steering India’s monetary policy.

Global Recognition for Top Central Bankers

The announcement was made in a press release by Global Finance Magazine on Monday, August 19. The magazine’s annual report, which grades central bank governors from around the world, highlighted those who excelled in managing inflation, economic growth, currency stability, and interest rate policies.

Since its inception in 1994, the Global Finance report has been a benchmark for assessing the performance of central bank governors across nearly 100 countries, territories, and districts. The grading scale ranges from “A+” to “F”, with the top ratings reserved for those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and effective policy implementation.

Das Among the Top Performers

Shaktikanta Das was one of only three central bank governors to receive an ‘A+’ rating this year, alongside Christian Kettel Thomsen of Denmark and Thomas Jordan of Switzerland. This recognition underscores his effective management of India’s monetary policy amidst global economic challenges.

Global Finance’s Statement on Central Bankers

In addition to the ‘A+’ recipients, several other central bank governors were recognized with ‘A’ and ‘A-’ ratings.
