Ratan Tata, the famous industrialist, was taken from his home on Thursday morning in a hearse covered with white flowers. His body will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in south Mumbai for people to pay their last respects.
Before the hearse left Tata’s house, the Mumbai Police band played a song to honor him. As news of his passing spread, many people from different backgrounds gathered outside his home early Thursday morning to pay tribute to him.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first visitors to Tata’s house. Ratan Tata, who is known for turning the Tata Group into a well-respected global company, died at the age of 86 on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
