Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorney has announced plans to appeal for his release from prison, as indicated by court documents obtained by People on Monday.
Attorney’s Notice of Appeal
Combs’ lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, filed a notice on Monday expressing their intention to appeal after the music mogul was denied bail twice. A source close to Combs mentioned to People that the official appeal brief will be submitted soon.
Details of Arrest and Charges
Combs was arrested on September 16 at a hotel in Manhattan at 8:25 PM. The following day, a 14-page indictment was unsealed, outlining serious charges against him. He is accused of allegedly orchestrating multiple “freak offs,” described by prosecutors as “elaborate and produced sex performances.” Additionally, he faces allegations of drugging and sexually assaulting his victims.
Bail Denied Again
On September 18, Combs was denied bail for the second time and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky, who denied his bail on September 17, raised concerns regarding his alleged “substance abuse and what seems like anger issues.” She stated, “I don’t know that you can trust yourself” not to harm others.
Current Condition and Future Proceedings
According to People, Combs is no longer on suicide watch. “He is focused and very strong. He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial,” his lawyer told People.
Diddy’s next court appearance is set for early October.
