What was supposed to be a day of divine celebration, Ram Navami festival in West Bengal has now become a platform for politics. As a result, various police stations in the state are keeping a strict eye to prevent communal tension before Ram Navami.

Citing Indian Express report, RSS affiliated group Hindu Jagran Manch has reportedly planned approximately 5,000 large processions in the state. Especially in places like Barasat, Siliguri and Kolkata’s Burrabazar.

As a result, for further prevention measures, the administration of Hooghly, Howrah, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur, Asansol and Barrackpore are on high alert owing to its recent instances of communal tensions during Ram Navami.

Further, the police has declared anyone undermining the law & order, will be dealt with strictly.

“No public display of weapons during processions on the festive occasion will be allowed,” said a police officer to The Indian Express. He further announced that processions too will be videographed.
