As the ‘Pran Prathishtha’ ceremony for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya approaches on January 22, numerous states and central government offices have declared public holidays or half-days in honor of this significant Hindu event. The Department of Personnel and Training has announced a half-day closure of all central government offices across India till 2:30 pm on January 22.

Here is a list of states that have declared holidays or half-days:

  • Tripura: Government offices and educational institutions in Tripura will remain closed until 2:30 pm on January 22 to facilitate participation in the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha celebrations, as per the directive by Deputy Secretary Asim Sahai.
  • Chhattisgarh: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has declared the closure of all government offices in Chhattisgarh until 2:30 pm on January 22.
  • Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the closure of educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, and liquor shops will remain closed throughout the state on that day.
  • Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared a school holiday and announced a dry day, closing all types of shops, including liquor and Bhang outlets.
  • Goa: The Goa government has declared a holiday for government employees and schools on January 22 in light of the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
  • Haryana: The Haryana government has announced the closure of schools on January 22 for the Ram Temple Inauguration. Liquor consumption will not be permitted anywhere in the state on the day of the consecration ceremony.
