On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of misleading the nation on national security issues and the Agnipath scheme. Singh expressed his willingness to address these concerns in Parliament.

After Rahul Gandhi criticized the government over the Union Budget, Rajnath Singh stated that the Opposition was spreading misconceptions about the budget. He assured that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would respond to these allegations during her reply to the ongoing debate.

“Our soldiers protect the country’s borders, which is a highly sensitive national security issue. There are attempts to mislead the nation regarding the Agniveer issue. I am ready to make a statement whenever you permit,” Singh said.

Previously, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Defence Minister had informed the House that the family of an Agniveer martyr received ₹1 crore in compensation. Gandhi clarified that this amount was an insurance payment, not compensation.

He further alleged that the youth of the country were being trapped in the Agniveer scheme.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi accused the Central government of creating a ‘chakravyuh’ (an impregnable war formation mentioned in the epic Mahabharat) around the youth, farmers, women, and small businesses. He claimed this formation was controlled by six individuals, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Thousands of years ago, in Kurukshetra, six people trapped Abhimanyu in a ‘Chakravyuh’ and killed him. I did some research and discovered that ‘Chakravyuh’ is also known as ‘Padmavyuh’—which means ‘Lotus formation’. ‘Chakravyuh’ is in the shape of a Lotus. In the 21st century, a new ‘Chakravyuh’ has been formed, again in the form of a Lotus. The Prime Minister wears its symbol on his chest. What was done to Abhimanyu is now being done to India—the youth, farmers, women, and small and medium businesses. Today, there are six people at the center of this ‘Chakravyuh’—Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Ambani, and Adani,” Rahul Gandhi said in the House.
