Chandigarh Administrator will have a new advisor in the form of Rajiv Verma, the Chief Secretary of Puducherry. The Union Home Ministry issued orders for his appointment on Monday, filling the position left vacant for three months following Dr. Dharampal›s retirement.
A 1992 batch IAS officer, Verma holds an M.Tech in Computer Science and a graduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Roorkee. Previously serving as the Chief Secretary of Puducherry, Verma brings extensive experience to the role. The post had been under additional charge by Home Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav since Dr. Dharampal›s retirement on October 31.
Before his stint in Puducherry in 2022, Verma held significant positions, including Principal Secretary and Finance Commissioner in New Delhi. His diverse career encompasses roles such as Joint Defense Secretary, Chairman and Managing Director, as well as Transport Secretary and Power Secretary in various sectors across India.
