The Lok Sabha elections took place in Tamil Nadu on April 19 and all the celebrities turned out in full force to do their duty. Superstar Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Dhanush and Suriya, among others, went to cast their vote in the morning itself.
Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan also cast his vote but his party is not taking part in the Lok Sabha elections this time. He campaigned for the ruling DMK in the state as he formed an alliance with them. Many actresses too like Trisha went early in the day to beat the heat and cast their vote.
Actor-turned-politician Khushbu, who is part of the BJP, went with her husband, director Sundar C, and two daughters to cast their vote. She posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it was her younger daughter’s first time in the electoral process and she was proud. Director Shankar, whose elder daughter got married recently to director Hari’s assistant director, also went with his entire family to cast votes in the elections.
Tamil star Vijay, who recently announced his foray into politics and named his political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, made sure he was there bright and early to cast his vote. The actor had stated earlier that TVK would not contest in the Lok Sabha polls but would contest the 2026 State Assembly elections. He also said that that he would fully involve himself in politics once his film commitments were completed.
