Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, moved the Sessions Court of Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday to contest a summons that the Magistrate Court had issued against him in connection with a defamation case brought by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat.

Tuesday’s Sessions Court hearing on Gehlot’s petition is most likely. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, recently filed a criminal defamation case against Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, for allegedly defaming him with comments regarding the Sanjivani scam.

According to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harpreet Singh Jaspal’s statement made on July 6, 2023, it appears at first glance that the accused (Ashok Gehlot) has made specific defamatory statements against the complainant after taking into account the relevant facts and circumstances, the complainant’s witnesses’ testimonies, and the evidence submitted for recording. Further, it appears at first glance that the accused’s defamatory statements have received enough press coverage in newspapers, electronic media, and social media, according to the Court, raising the possibility that the complainant will be shunned by right-thinking society members.
