Following the stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus, the Central Railway has banned the sale of platform tickets at its major stations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, and Nagpur, from which this ban would continue until November 8, as a crowd management measure during the Diwali and Chhath Puja season.

The restriction is being placed on everyone except senior citizens and those with medical needs, the railway authorities stated, but said that it is to decongest station areas and facilitate passenger movement. The stampede occurred early Sunday when passengers in a stampede ran for a moving train bound for Gorakhpur. It was a train that changed from the yard to the platform and resulted in a stampede, with some falling between coaches and thus sustaining injuries.

It called the shots back; in opposition leaders trolled the Maharashtra government and even went to the extent of attacks on the Railway minister. Shiv Sena (UBT) representative, Anand Dubey lashed at the government as quoted saying, “The government did not respect any living being in Maharahsstra”. Once more from that bandwagon of Shiv Sena (UBT), Sanjay Raut retorted with raising several doubts against the railway ministry accountability in death counts; 100+ fatalities on record over than 25 major incidents and reported with ANI at since, Prime Minister’s Third tenure.
