Come September, Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate a 15 km railway line from Agartala to Akhaura. Expected to be a game changer for both India and Bangladesh, this project is creating considerable excitement. Once operational, the railway will reduce travel time between Agartala and Kolkata from 31 hours to 10, creating a plethora of opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. This will be a fitting response to China’s Belt Road Initiative.
