Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to arrive in Surat today. Rahul will be stating why the surname of every thief is Modi. Surat MLA Purnesh Modi had filed a defamation suit in the court in this regard. Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said that he had come to Surat earlier to hear the case. Earlier, Rahul was present in Surat’s Chief Judicial Court in October 2019.
A case was filed in the court against him for his remarks on Modi Community. Rahul had remarked in a public meeting that all Modi are thieves. He took the names of Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, and others and called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a scam and corrupt. And Purnesh had filed a case in the court. According to Purnesh Modi, calling the entire Modi community a thief hurts the feelings of society.
Senior Congress leaders have reached Surat as Rahul has to appear before the court tomorrow. Leaders including Amit and opposition leader Paresh Dhanani held a meeting with workers on Wednesday. With Rahul’s arrival, preparations have also started in the Congress. Rahul may come to Surat for the second time in this case.
Amit said that false defamation cases were filed to harass the popular leader Rahul, who is becoming the voice of the general public of the country, as part of which he is likely to appear before the court in the ongoing case. As per reports, the entire Congress committee will join in supporting and welcoming Rahul’s struggle for truth and religion.
