South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada became the fastest to reach 300 Test wickets in terms of balls bowled during the first Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Monday. Bangladesh struggled against South African bowlers after choosing to bat first. Wiaan Mulder’s early breakthroughs with swing and bounce were followed by Rabada’s removal of Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das.
Rabada achieved the 300 Test wickets milestone after bowling 11,817 deliveries, surpassing Waqar Younis (12,602), Dale Steyn (12,605), Allan Donald (13,672), and Malcolm Marshall (13,728).
Rabada concluded his impressive spell by dismissing Nayeem Hasan, leaving Bangladesh at 102/9. He ended the innings with 3/26 in 11 overs. Bangladesh folded for 106 after Taijul Islam was caught by Keshav Maharaj.
In response, South Africa lost captain Aiden Markram early, bowled by Hasan Mahmud for 6(7). Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi then worked to stabilize South Africa’s innings after the early setback.
