Chandigarh’s renowned Kathak dancer, Dr. Sameera Kausar, is set to receive the State Award from the Chandigarh Administration on Republic Day for her outstanding contributions to the realms of music and art.

Holding a PhD in Psychology and Dance from Panjab University, Dr. Sameera commenced her Kathak journey at a young age, refining her skills under the guidance of esteemed gurus such as Guru Kundan Lal Gangani, Guru Dr. Shobha Kausar, and Guru Brij Mohan Gangani.
Currently, serving as the Deputy Registrar of the Ancient Art Centre, Dr. Sameera focuses on the cognitive aspects of classical arts, particularly in the domain of practical Kathak. Her dedication extends to imparting music and dance education to both Indian and international students, contributing significantly to the preservation and propagation of Indian classical arts.
