Purva Parag has garnered attention with her performance in ‘Sarfira’, which hit screens on July 12. The Akshay Kumar-led movie features her as Radhika Madan’s reel mother and is a remake of Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’. ‘Sarfira’ received rave reviews upon its release but failed to work its magic at the box office. It faced competition from ‘Indian 2’ and Prabhas-led ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

In an exclusive interaction with The Daily Guardian, Purva opened up about Sarfira’s lacklustre box office performance and said that she is hopeful it will emerge a winner in the “long run”.

“In the long run it will grow. Everyone who has seen the film has appreciated it. This is not a Welcome or a Housefull type of film that it does well in the first week itself. It is a subject-based movie. Every day I get a surprise call from someone who has watched the film,” she said.

‘Sarfira’ marks Purva’s second collaboration with Radhika. The two previously teamed up for ‘Kacchey Limbu’, which hit screens last year. Purva said that she shares a good rapport with the star.

“She is a nice girl and works hard to develop her character. Radhika is a dedicated performer a very professional worker. I have a chemistry with her,” she said.

‘Sarfira’, directed by Sudha Kongara, is an underdog saga about a a pilot-turned-businessman who tries to make civil aviation more affordable. The drama is based on Captain Gopinath’s ‘Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey’. The film’s cast includes Paresh Rawal, Sarathkumar, and Prakash Belawadi. Suriya makes a special appearance in the mid-credits scene. This is Akshay Kumar’s first release after ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. The action-comedy opened in theatres this Eid and bombed at the box office. Its cast included Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, and Ronit Roy.

‘Sarfira’ premiered in theatres on July 12 and is currently playing in theatres.
