In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police apprehended an operative of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang, foiling a potential attack on assigned targets. The arrest took place in Landran, Kharar, as confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday.
Identified as Sachin alias Bacchi, residing in Mangali, Hisar, the accused was found in possession of four pistols and 12 live cartridges. He was nabbed near the entrance of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, based on credible intelligence received by the AGTF, under the vigilant oversight of ADGP Promod Ban.
DGP Yadav disclosed that Bacchi played a key role in extending logistical support and safe hideouts to gang members.
Initial probe unravelled a sinister plot being devised by the accused and his cohorts, under directives from overseas handlers, to assault predetermined targets.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) AGTF Sandeep Goel further elaborated on Bacchi’s criminal history, marking him as a wanted figure by Punjab Police. The ongoing inquiry is likely to lead to additional recoveries and arrests from this gang module, added Goel.
A formal case has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali, bearing the FIR number 13, dated 17th October 2023. The decisive action by AGTF not only underscores the sustained efforts to curb gang-related criminal activities but also stands as a testament to the heightened vigilance and readiness of the Punjab Police in ensuring public safety.
