After his release from jail, Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu reached the house of slain singer Sidhu Moosewala in the village of Moosa. He met Moosewala’s family to pay condolences. While addressing the media, Congress leader Sidhu blamed the AAP government and said, “Why did the AAP government make the security pruning list public, and who made it public?”
Navjot Sidhu›s security was also halved by the government after his release from the Central Jail. Police sources said Sidhu now had 11 security personnel attached to him, besides a pilot escort. «From the earlier 25 police personnel who were with Sidhu before he went to jail, the number has been reduced to 12. His ‘Z+’ category cover now stands converted to Y+,» police said.
Navjot Sidhu questioned the law and order situation in Punjab and said while talking to the media at Moosewala›s house that, whomever the government is, it is the first responsibility of the government to protect the lives of people. «I want to ask whether the government here protects against crime or commits the crime», asked Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.
It is pertinent to mention here that Navjot Singh Sidhu was in jail when Sidhu Moosewala was assassinated by the gangster. However, sorrow was expressed on Sidhu›s Twitter account. It was Navjot Sidhu and Raja Warring who brought Moosewala to the Congress. The high command of the Congress also gave him a ticket in the election at the behest of Sidhu. Navjot Sidhu also introduced Sidhu Moosewala to Rahul Gandhi. Meanwhile, Sidhu Moosewala›s father, Balkaur Singh, said on Sunday that he would campaign against the government during the Jalandhar by-election.
A senior AAP leader said Sidhu was not an MP or an MLA, and not even the PPCC chief, and security would be provided only as per the threat, not as per his wishes.
