The Governor of Punjab and the Administrator of Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit, may continue in both positions. The central government has not accepted his resignation. Banwarilal Purohit resigned after meeting with BJP President JP Nadda along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, citing personal reasons.
After resigning, Purohit has been actively engaging in his duties. He has not only resumed meetings with officials at UT Chandigarh but also started demanding answers. Recently, UT Administrator Purohit held a long meeting with the new advisor Rajeev Varma. Following this, bus services to Ayodhya were initiated by the Transport Department. Purohit held a meeting with officials and also reviewed reports of various projects.
The way Banwarilal Purohit sent his resignation and then became active in his work again indicates that the central government may have asked him to continue in this position. One reason for this is that the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections could be made soon and the possibility of the implementation of the election code is high. Only the central government can keep him in office until the Lok Sabha elections. Only then can any new changes be made.
