Internal discord is increasing within the Punjab Congress. A crucial meeting of the Congress took place in Chandigarh on Friday regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, where the name of former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was included. However, he did not attend the meeting. Navjot Singh Sidhu has once again started distancing himself from the meetings of the state unit. It is noteworthy that Sidhu had done the same during the tenure of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
Last week, Navjot Sidhu did not participate in the election committee and instead held a meeting with three former Congress chiefs, the photos of which he also shared on social media. He tweeted, “Discussion on current political situation with four former PCC presidents.” In this meeting, along with Sidhu, former chiefs Shamsher Singh Dullo, Lal Singh, and Mohinder Singh Kay Pee were present. It is now unclear what Navjot Sidhu intends to do separately. Congress senior leaders are uneasy about this. Regarding this meeting, Congress in-charge Devendra Yadav said he has no information about the meeting with former chiefs. However, Navjot Sidhu should participate in the election committee meeting as he is part of it.
Meanwhile, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Raja Warring, opposing Navjot Sidhu’s approach, stated that while one side a meeting of the election committee was taking place, on the other hand, Sidhu was holding a separate meeting, which is against discipline. It is noteworthy that during this period, Raja Warring did not mention taking any action. He said that the decision will be made by Punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav.
