The Border Security Force (BSF) has successfully confiscated illegal arms and ammunition discovered in a farming field along the bordering area of Ferozpur district in Punjab, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

The BSF, in a post on ‘X,’ reported that a thorough search operation was carried out by BSF Punjab troops following the detection of drone movement during the night of January 18-19, 2024. The operation resulted in the recovery of arms and ammunition. The troops identified a suspicious-looking object around 6:00 p.m. on Friday, described as a large packet carefully wrapped in a white-colored gunny sandbag. The packet contained one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 40 live rounds, and Rs 40,000.

The BSF disclosed that further investigation is ongoing. In a separate incident on January 19, during morning hours, BSF Punjab troops engaged in area domination patrolling and a search operation identified a suspicious object in a farming field near Village- Lal Singh ke Jhugge in Ferozepur district. The object, upon inspection, was found to be a pair of socks containing two packets of suspected heroin (approximately 2 kgs). Another pair of socks containing one packet of suspected heroin (approximately 1 kg) was recovered later in the day. The narcotics, totaling three packets (approximately 3 kgs), were securely wrapped with yellow adhesive tape.

This incident marked another successful interception of a narcotics smuggling attempt by the vigilant BSF troops. On January 18, during the afternoon hours, BSF Punjab troops apprehended two Indian nationals attempting to conceal and clear a consignment of heroin cleverly hidden in their slippers. The weight of the consignment was 530 grams, and the apprehension occurred in the village Bhindi Nain, District Amritsar.
