The Punjab government is preparing to remove the Advocate General (AG) Vinod Ghai. According to sources, the Punjab government is unhappy with the working style of AG. In the past, the Punjab government was humiliated in front of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for dissolving the Panchayats in the state. The Punjab government has also been criticized for some other schemes. As per the sources the state government is holding AG responsible for all these fireback plans.
Earlier, a woman alleged AG Vinod Ghai with very serious allegations. Due to all these reasons, the Punjab government is now considering removing Vinod Ghai from the responsibility of AG. Although no information has been revealed in his place, who will be entrusted with the responsibility of AG.
Vinod Ghai is accused of not keeping the state government’s favour firmly in the court. As per senior officials of State Government Chief Minister Bhagwant has discussed with other ministers regarding changing the AG. Recently, AG Vinod Ghai appeared to be weakened in many cases related to the state government. The most prominent in these cases are orders to end the Panchayati Raj.
The Punjab government was in a tight spot. Because the AG could not give the right legal opinion the Punjab government had to withdraw its orders. Questions were also raised on the plan to deliver ration from house to house. AG could not guide the state government in many other cases other than this scheme.
5 months ago, AG Vinod Ghai was accused by a young woman resident of Delhi. After this, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Leader of Opposition from Congress in the Assembly also wrote a letter to the Punjab Governor. In the video, the female lawyer drew attention to the shocking revelations about AG Ghai. Punjab Governor then stated that if the allegations made in the video are true, then it is not worthy of forgiveness.
Sources said the government was taking a call on a “pile of complaints against his unsatisfactory services” in several other cases ever since he took over.
It was pointed out that in the past, the AG has also been associated with defending controversial Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a sacrilege case. His name was also associated with defending the case of former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu who is under investigation for his role in the alleged grain-lifting scam.
