A couple in Pune lost gold jewelry valued at ₹4.9 lakh after a man stole their bag while they were stopped for vada pav. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the thief picking up the bag as the couple was momentarily distracted. The video has gone viral, shocking viewers and accumulating over six lakh views.
The couple, Dashtrath Babaulal Dhamne, 69, and his wife Jayashree, residents of White Field Society, Manjari, were on their way home after retrieving the gold from the State Bank of India (SBI), where it had been pledged for a loan. They stopped at a vada pav shop on Pune-Solapur road. While Dashtrath was getting food, Jayashree stayed by their scooter. The video shows her inspecting something at the back of the vehicle when a man in a white shirt approaches, grabs the bag, and walks away. Jayashree notices him and begins shouting for help.
