Two young engineering students met a tragic incident in Pune when they were fatally struck by a truck, adding to the city’s list of unfortunate accidents. This heartbreaking incident occurred on Monday night, precisely at 10:30 pm, within Pune’s Chandan Nagar vicinity.

Last night, as the students were riding a motorcycle, a truck collided with them from behind. Despite the impact, the driver of the truck tried to flee the scene. However, thanks to the swift response of both the police and residents, they managed to intercept the driver approximately 300 meters away from the accident site.

The students were riding a motorcycle last night when the truck hit the duo from behind. The driver of the truck attempted to escape the scene however, the police and locals stopped him 300 meters from the accident spot.

Vimaltal police station’s Inspector Anand Khobre said, “While they were on the way, the truck hit their motorbike from the backside. A youth died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries in a hospital.”

According to the police, three engineering students, each in their early twenties, were en- route to the Pune railway station along the Pune-Ahmednagar Road. Among them, two were making their way to their hometown of Latur in Maharashtra by train.

The police stated that the truck driver was apprehended and charged under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, along with additional pertinent legal provisions.

The tragedy took place amid the Porsche case. A 17-year-old boy driving his father’s Porsche car after drinking at two Pune bars knocked down and accidentally killed two techies earlier this month. Initially let off with the condition to write an essay on road safety, his bail was later canceled amidst public outrage, sending him to a reform home. Police have arrested the bar owners, the minor’s father, and his grandfather for coercing their driver to take the blame.
