In a surprising turn of events during the victory ceremony of Nasir Hussain, the newly elected Rajya Sabha member from Congress in Karnataka, slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” were heard, sparking a heated political controversy.
After the announcement of the results on January 27, supporters gathered at Vidhana Soudha to congratulate Nasir Hussain. Shockingly, amidst the celebrations, a person reportedly shouted pro-Pakistan slogans. A video capturing the incident has circulated in the media, drawing serious concern from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The BJP has raised the issue in both houses of the State Legislature, accusing the incident of sedition. BJP leaders, holding the national flag, condemned the slogans and criticized the Congress government. The Legislative Council witnessed a confrontation between Congress and BJP members.
Opposition leader R. Ashok accused the state Congress government of siding with traitors, while BJP leader Kota Srinivasa Pujari proposed a sedition declaration in the Legislative Council. Congress member Salim Ahmed denied the allegations, leading to further verbal clashes between the two parties.
The matter has prompted the government and police to take swift action. Three special police teams have been formed to investigate the incident. DCP Shekhar of Bangalore Central Division stated that the investigation is multidimensional, with individuals associated with Nasir Hussain being questioned.
Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar is closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the need for a thorough inquiry. Instructions have been given to uncover the truth, with police scrutinizing CCTV footage from Vidhana Soudha premises and sending video clips to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
As tensions escalate between Congress and BJP members, the investigation aims to provide clarity on the alleged pro-Pakistan slogans, ensuring accountability in this political spectacle.
