In a statement released on Wednesday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the party intends to bring up the topic of a special aid package for the disaster-stricken Himachal Pradesh during this special session of Parliament. The Congress leader is in Himachal Pradesh right now to meet with local residents and flood and landslide victims.
On Wednesday, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assessed the relief and recovery efforts in Shiv Bawari, Krishnanagar, and Kanlog areas of Shimla. “The state of Himachal Pradesh has suffered enormous losses, and the situation there is very painful. The State Government, headed by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has been working nonstop to help those affected by the disaster. The seriousness of the situation in Himachal Pradesh does not appear to be understood by the Union Government. The State Government is unable to manage the losses on its own due to their size.
Therefore, the Union Government must rise above the petty politics and help generously the people of the State during this challenging time”, she said while speaking to the reporters.
“Congress will raise the issue of special relief package for Himachal Pradesh during this special session in Parliament”, she added.
