Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi arrived in Wayanad, Kerala, on Sunday to begin campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-poll. Accompanied by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, they were warmly received by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President K Sudhakaran, Congress MP K Suresh, and Congress MLA T Siddique, among others.
During her campaign, Priyanka Gandhi expressed a commitment to address the issues faced by the people of Wayanad if elected. She stated, “My main promise is that I will work hard to serve the people of Wayanad… I will fight for them and raise my voice on every platform, especially in Parliament.”
Wayanad, traditionally a Congress stronghold, will see Priyanka Gandhi as the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate competing against BJP’s Navya Haridas and Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri. Rahul Gandhi, who previously held the Wayanad seat, vacated it after being elected to Lok Sabha from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, earlier this year.
The Wayanad bypoll is scheduled for November 13, aligning with bye-elections in 47 assembly seats across 15 states and the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
