The royal family has been under intense scrutiny as the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry continues to sour. The public fallout, exacerbated by Prince Harry’s memoir The Spare, the Oprah Winfrey interview, and the Netflix documentary, has left the brothers more distant than ever. However, as the day of Prince William’s coronation approaches, there’s growing speculation that he will extend an olive branch to his younger brother, despite their differences.
William Won’t Make a ‘Foolish’ Decision
According to royal insiders, Prince William is not expected to make the “foolish” mistake of excluding Prince Harry from the historic event. A close friend of William told the UK Sunday Times that the estrangement between the brothers is “dreadfully sad,” but royal author Christopher Andersen remains hopeful. “Despite all the bad blood between the brothers, I’m convinced that, when the time comes, William will not be foolish enough to exclude his only sibling, now fifth in line to the throne, from his coronation,” Andersen shared with Fox News.
Royal Tensions at an All-Time High
The relationship between the brothers, as well as with their father, King Charles, is reportedly at its most strained. Sources close to the royal family suggest that William and Charles have decided to keep their distance from Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, for the time being. “William and Charles have pretty much made the joint decision to effectively cut Harry out of their lives, at least for now. There is no sign of a reconciliation on the horizon, and everyone involved seems to have come to terms with that,” the source noted.
Frustrations with Harry and Meghan’s Public Behavior
Adding to the tension is the frustration King Charles and Prince William feel towards Harry and Meghan’s public behavior. The couple’s attempts to maintain a royal-like image despite stepping down from their senior royal roles have reportedly irked the family. As William takes on more responsibilities and prepares to ascend the throne, he is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with his brother’s “attention-grabbing” ways.
William’s Heavy Burden
As if the strained family relationships weren’t enough, William is also dealing with personal challenges. Andersen highlighted the “heavy psychological burden” that William is carrying as both his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, battle cancer. Despite these challenges, William is trying to keep a brave face for his children and the monarchy.
While the rift between the brothers seems deep, royal experts and insiders suggest that William’s sense of duty will prevail, leading him to invite Harry to the coronation. Whether this event will bring about any form of reconciliation remains to be seen.
