Prince William and Kate Middleton are in a process of preparation to play out their future roles as the next king and queen of the United Kingdom. This comes as the couple had generally stayed away from the limelight due to Kate’s abdominal surgery which resulted in a diagnosis of cancer back in January. Since the news of Kate now being free from the menace, the royal duties resume for both.
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People Magazine that the couple has been upping their game in terms of preparation for William’s eventual ascension to the throne. “Although the king is carrying out his duties with typical determination, he has had to accept limitations during his cancer treatment,” Smith noted. “As a result, William has been taking on more responsibilities, and he and Kate have been preparing for their future roles sooner than they would have expected.”
King Charles III, who had to adapt his duties to his own cancer diagnosis, has had his eldest son assume many of the royal duties. William recently represented his father at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. There’s a sense of calm before the storm. They are next in line for the biggest job of their lives, and of course, Kate’s health has been the priority, but it’s also allowed everyone to take a step back and figure out what’s important right now,” added Smith.
