President Droupadi Murmu arrived in New Zealand on Wednesday, marking the second stop of her three-nation tour. Upon her arrival in Auckland, she was welcomed by New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay and High Commissioner Neeta Bhushan.

The Indian Embassy in New Zealand shared the news on X, expressing, “A warm welcome to the Hon’ble @rashtrapatibhvn Smt. Droupadi Murmu as she arrived in New Zealand today. Warmly received by Minister @toddmcclaymp and HC Neeta Bhushan at Auckland.”

Minister Todd McClay also conveyed his honor on X, stating, “It is an honor on behalf of the New Zealand Government to welcome Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, President of India, to New Zealand today. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen our relationship and enhance our cultural and people-to-people connections.”

Earlier in her trip, Murmu visited the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi, Fiji, where she addressed the Indian community and praised the enduring bond between India and Fiji. She highlighted the inspirational role of the Indian diaspora in Fiji.

President Murmu began her six-day visit on Sunday, which includes stops in Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs. In New Zealand, from August 7-9, Murmu is meeting with Governor General Dame Cindy Kiro, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and attending an education conference. She will also engage with the Indian community and other friends of India during her stay.

The final leg of her tour will take her to Timor-Leste, where she will engage in activities on August 10, at the invitation of President Jose Ramos-Horta.
