Odisha CM-elect Mohan Charan Majhi and his deputies, KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, will be sworn in at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
KV Singh Deo, appointed as a deputy chief minister, defeated BJD’s Saroj Kumar Meher by 1,357 votes in Patnagarh. The other deputy CM, Pravati Parida, won against BJD leader Dilip Kumar Nayak by 4,588 votes in Nimapara.
BJP leader Pravati Parida, a native of Nimapara, contested the assembly elections from her hometown and secured a victory. A lawyer by profession, she completed her LLB from Utkal University in Bhubaneswar and is an advocate in the Odisha High Court.
After practicing law for several years, Parida joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. She initially served as the president of the BJP’s women’s wing in Odisha. She is married to Shyam Sundar Nayak, a former government employee.
Parida is a first-time MLA from the Nimapara constituency. This was her fourth attempt running for the Nimapara seat; she was defeated by BJD’s Samir Ranjan Dash in 2014 and 2019. In the 2009 election, she received only 4.52 percent of the vote.
