MUMBAI : Pranati Rai Prakash recently announced her ALT Balaji debut with the upcoming web series ‘Cartel’.  Pranati will be seen playing Sumi Angre in the show that also stars Ritvik Dhanjani. She spoke exclusively to The Daily Guardian and told us about her character and new projects.

Q. How did this role come your way?

I’m looking forward to the show. All its teasers and trailers have been kickass! We have worked very hard and I’m sure it’ll be a good show! I auditioned for Sumi’s part, I had two different scenes to perform, one was a sad one and one was a happy one. I was told they really liked my audition and got selected. Then I started my prep and took time to understand her.

Q. You have been a part of other web series as well and will be seen in others too, how different is/ was Sumi from them?

Each character is very special to me. I love working on my characters and bringing to life many emotions that I might not have experienced before. Binny from ‘Mannphodganj’ was a happy go lucky, go-getter, Aashu from ‘Poison’ was an adolescent trying to figure out her life and love as she moved from being an extrovert to experiencing jealousy and insecurity and got into her own shell. Suman from ‘Thakurganj’ was very responsible and mature. Sumi is very sensitive, has faced tough challenges and all that takes a toll on her.

Q. How relatable is Sumi with Pranati in real life?

Sumi is beautiful, she’s an aspiring actress, and likes to get ready like most girls. We are very different. I’m a much more hardworking and strong person, quite a go-getter and never break down or need someone like Sumi does. Maybe our loneliness could be common.

Q. How was it working with Rithvik Dhanjani, Tanuj Virwani and the other cast members?

It’s was great working with them. We had insightful talks, a lot of fun and learning!

Q. Do you enjoy working in movies or web series more and why?

I enjoy both as long as the script is good and character is interesting.

Q. Tell us about your upcoming projects?

I am working on another web series. It will probably have one of my best performances ever. I’m focusing on that.
