Posters blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for turning Delhi into a “capital of gangsters” have appeared in areas like ITO and other parts of the city. This follows three shooting incidents in the national capital within 24 hours, sparking fear among residents. The shootings took place on September 27 and 28 in Naraina, Mahipalpur, and Nangaloi.

The posters read, “BJP has made Delhi a capital of gangsters.” The first incident occurred on Friday in Naraina, where 20 rounds were fired outside a car showroom. On the following day, two more incidents related to extortion and shooting were reported. In Mahipalpur, a hotel owner, who had been receiving ransom calls, saw shots fired at his hotel when he refused to pay. Footage from the scene showed a bullet hole in a glass gate. That same day in Nangaloi, three rounds were fired outside a sweet shop.

BJP Accuses AAP of Exaggerating the Situation

The BJP responded by accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misleading Delhi’s residents and exaggerating the crime incidents to distract from its own shortcomings. BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “It’s important to stop crime, but it’s also important to recognize that the Delhi Police have done a good job at finding criminals.”

This came after Delhi’s Urban Development Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, criticized Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and the BJP, accusing them of neglecting law and order, which has led to a rise in crime. Bharadwaj claimed that thousands of Delhiites have had to pay extortion money to gangsters.
