Muslims Join BJP, Back PM Modi; Party’s Minority Outreach Gains Momentum

The BJP launched its “National Membership Campaign – 2024,” emphasizing outreach to minority communities, including Muslims, with a target of 50 lakh new members nationwide. In a recent event held at Dargah Hazrat Matka Shah Baba in Delhi, key BJP Minority Front leaders, including National President Jamal Siddiqui, facilitated the membership drive. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Muslim community, highlighting their growing support for the BJP’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Minority Front’s campaign is organized in two phases: from September 2 to September 25, followed by October 1 to October 15. Siddiqui emphasized that minorities from various regions are actively joining the party, citing successful membership drives across the country. To simplify registration, the BJP has introduced multiple channels, including a toll-free number, QR codes, and digital platforms like the Namo app. This strategy is designed to engage the tech-savvy younger demographic, as well as rural and urban populations alike.

At the event, Shahid Abbasi, the head priest, also supported the efforts, and local leaders, such as Delhi State President of the Minority Front, Anish Abbasi, underscored how this campaign reflects the inclusive political approach of the BJP. As more Muslims enroll, the party aims to dismantle traditional political affiliations, with a focus on development for all.

Jamal Siddiqui also mentioned that other minority communities, including women and those associated with the “Shukriya Modi Ji” campaign, are responding positively to BJP’s outreach. The party aims to strengthen its foothold within minority groups in light of upcoming national elections.

The initiative has also faced criticism from opposition parties, who argue that BJP’s outreach to minority communities is a calculated political move rather than a genuine effort to promote inclusivity. Nonetheless, BJP leaders maintain that the party is committed to the development of all communities without discrimination. This membership drive is also part of a larger national strategy to boost BJP’s overall membership to unprecedented levels ahead of the 2024 general elections.

This membership campaign is not limited to religious minorities but also targets other underrepresented groups across the country. The BJP’s broader goal is to consolidate its political influence and expand its voter base in traditionally non-BJP regions, including those with a significant minority population. This reflects the party’s long-term strategy to diversify its support base, making inroads into previously opposition-held strongholds.

With the campaign continuing till mid-October, further events like the one at Dargah Hazrat Matka Shah Baba will be crucial for gauging the success of BJP’s outreach and its potential impact on the upcoming elections.
