Manohar Lal Khattar Says Congress’ “Lies” Won’t Sway Haryana Poll Outcomes

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday, convened a meeting with BJP leaders and workers in Haryana to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections.

After the meeting, the former Haryana Chief Minister told reporters in Karnal, “…The preparations are going on for the Vidhan Sabha elections. The party workers are excited. The lies told by Congress will not work in the next elections. The tactics that they (the Congress) have used in the Lok Sabha elections will not work anymore…”

On senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visit to Hathras and not Tamil Nadu, the senior BJP leader said, “I have heard his statements in the Lok Sabha. I am surprised that such words pop up in his mouth. Is the entire Hindu society violent?. The people of the country will give him a befitting reply (when the people come out to vote during the assembly elections).”

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, both BJP and Congress secured 5 seats each in the state, with BJP achieving a vote share of 46.11% and Congress obtaining 43.67%. The Aam Aadmi Party, their alliance partner, garnered 3.94% of the votes. Contrastingly, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP swept all 10 seats in the state.

According to the Election Commission of India, BJP’s seat count reduced to 240 from its 2019 tally of 303. Conversely, Congress made significant progress by securing 99 seats. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, while the INDIA bloc surpassed 230 seats, presenting strong competition and defying expectations.
