Lok Sabha adjourned after BJP raises Soros-Congress link, Opposition Wants Discussion on Manipur

The Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until 2 pm on Wednesday following a ruckus initiated by the opposition, who demanded a discussion on the deteriorating situation in Manipur. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi highlighted the suffering of the people in Manipur, stating that basic services are on the verge of collapse and the impact on ordinary citizens is devastating.

Gogoi questioned when Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Manipur and when Home Minister Amit Shah would inform the House about the steps being taken to address the crisis. He further alleged that the BJP was using the issue of George Soros to divert attention from the government’s failures.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Accuses Congress of Ties to George Soros

Amid the uproar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal asserted that the government is taking necessary actions regarding the situation in Manipur. He accused the Congress party of having a nexus with external forces, which he claimed is exacerbating the problems facing the country. Goyal specifically questioned the close relationship between Congress and George Soros, asking, “Why does George Soros have such a close relationship with their leader?”

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day amid a standoff between the BJP-led central government and the opposition over a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The house is scheduled to reconvene on December 12.

Opposition INDIA Bloc Submits No-Confidence Motion Against Rajya Sabha Chairman

The opposition INDIA bloc submitted a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to the Secretary General of the Upper House on Tuesday. The Congress party, leading the INDIA bloc, has been demanding discussions on the Adani issue and staged protests within the Parliament premises.

Congress leader Manish Tewari remarked that the opposition’s move to file a no-confidence motion against Dhankhar raises questions about his impartiality. He noted that the Vice President, who serves as the ex-officio Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, is elected by MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Tewari emphasized that if the opposition feels compelled to pursue an impeachment motion against Dhankhar for alleged bias, it raises broader concerns about the selection of impartial presiding officers in legislative bodies.
