Congress leader Sandeep Dixit criticized former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Janta Adalat (public court) held at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, dismissing it as a “sponsored event.” In a sharp critique, Dixit said, “It is a sponsored Adalat, a TV event. Within 5-6 months, Kejriwal will become the permanent resident of Tihar Jail.” His comment alluded to ongoing corruption investigations surrounding the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader.
Kejriwal, addressing the public gathering earlier in the day, defended his political integrity, explaining that he entered politics not for personal gain but to serve the nation. “I resigned because I did not come into politics to do corruption or for the greed of the Chief Minister’s chair. I worked in Income Tax, and if I wanted, I could have earned crores. I came into politics for Bharat Mata, to change the country’s politics,” he declared.
Kejriwal expressed his disappointment over the corruption allegations against him, particularly from the BJP. “It hurts when BJP calls me a thief or corrupt. I resigned because I’m heartbroken. I want people to decide if I am honest or dishonest. If I were dishonest, could I give free electricity or build schools?”
The Janta Adalat was seen as Kejriwal’s effort to mobilize public support and gain momentum ahead of potential early elections in Delhi, as he seeks to advance the polls to November from the originally scheduled February.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, along with five other ministers: Saurabh Bhardwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat, marking a new chapter for the AAP government.
