Girish Mahajan Meets Shinde Before Maharashtra CM Swearing-In

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Mahajan visited Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, who is recovering from a throat infection and fever on Monday. Mahajan shared that during their meeting, they discussed the preparations for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the new Maharashtra Chief Minister, set for December 5.

No Tension Within the Mahayuti Alliance

Mahajan also emphasized that there were no signs of conflict among the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance. “I came here to meet Eknath Shinde, who has been unwell for the past few days. There is no displeasure. We sat together for an hour and had a conversation. He also discussed preparations for December 5, and I shared some thoughts as well. We have a lot of work to do for the people of the state, and we are going to work together for them,” Mahajan stated to reporters after his meeting with Shinde.

Shinde’s Health Update and Leadership Talks

Earlier, on Sunday, Shinde confirmed that he had recovered from the fever and was in good health. On Thursday evening, Shinde, along with Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and other leaders from the Mahayuti alliance, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi to resolve the deadlock regarding the Chief Ministerial position.

Chief Minister Decision Pending

The Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, emerged victorious in the Maharashtra Assembly elections held on November 23. However, the alliance has yet to finalize its candidate for the Chief Minister role. The BJP secured 132 seats in the 280-member Assembly, making it the largest party. Its allies, Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde) and the NCP (led by Ajit Pawar), won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a significant defeat. Congress managed to win only 16 seats, while its partner Shiv Sena (UBT) won 20. The NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) secured a mere 10 seats in the election.
