The debate over the closure of English medium schools has intensified, with sharp exchanges between the BJP and Congress. Education Minister Madan Dilawar has strongly criticised Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra, claiming that Dotasra is suffering because the “door to his loot and corruption” has closed. Dilawar’s remarks came in response to Dotasra’s recent criticism of the government’s decision to review English medium schools.
Dotasra Raises Concerns Over Review Of Schools
Dotasra had raised concerns about the government’s decision to review the status of 59 English medium schools running in his constituency. He specifically questioned the appointment of Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa as the convenor of the committee reviewing these schools, alleging that Bairwa would likely leave the committee midway. Dotasra also pointed out that Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, while in opposition, had advocated for the establishment of English medium schools in his area, which he said was ignored.
Dilawar Responds To Dotasra’s Criticism
In his response, Dilawar dismissed Dotasra’s statements, attributing them to personal frustration. He stated that Dotasra’s current distress is due to the end of the corruption that was rampant in the Congress-led education system. Dilawar accused Dotasra of using the establishment of English medium schools as a means to “loot” public funds, stating that no actual English medium schools were established under the Congress government. Instead, existing Hindi medium schools were rebranded with English medium signage, a practice that, according to Dilawar, misled parents and compromised children’s education.
Dilawar further criticised the Congress leadership for appointing Hindi medium teachers to English medium schools, many of whom lacked proficiency in English. He argued that this resulted in a significant decline in the quality of education and led to a shortage of qualified teachers in Hindi medium schools, ultimately harming the education of thousands of children in Rajasthan.
Dilawar concluded by asserting that the actions of Congress leaders had caused damage to the education system and predicted that they would face consequences for the injustices done to the children of Rajasthan.
