“Why Has the Double Engine Govt Failed in All States?”: AAP Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar Slams BJP Amid Saif Ali Khan’s Attack

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government on Thursday, claiming that the party’s “double engine” governments have failed in maintaining law and order across the states they govern.

Her remarks followed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s strong criticism of the BJP-led central and Maharashtra governments after the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence.

Kakkar questioned the BJP’s ability to ensure public safety, saying, “Why such a murder of politician Baba Siddique happens, why attacks on actors and celebrities keep happening, like Salman Khan gets attacked repeatedly and there is a firing on his residence, how such a famous actor like Saif Ali Khan gets attacked. Why has BJP’s double engine government failed in maintaining law and order, whatever state they are in, whether in Maharashtra or somewhere else.”

She also hit back at BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad for reiterating allegations about the Delhi liquor policy scam, saying, “We did not get any answers, but instead party’s leader Ravi Shankar Prasad does a press conference and repeats the same old accusations. In the liquor policy case our leaders were put in jail, and the investigation is ongoing right? Everyone saw what Supreme Court said about the case… you let the investigation go on, but also reply on how on the subject of law and order you cannot guarantee safety of people.”

Earlier, Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged in a BJP press conference that AAP intends to bring back the Delhi liquor policy, which is under investigation for alleged corruption. He said, “The Delhi Chief Minister (Atishi) has said that they will bring back the liquor policy if elected to power. The party which supported Anna Hazare’s ideals now has their first priority as liquor, never seen such a thing. They have not submitted the CAG report in Vidhan Sabha. There is sanction, and permission for prosecution too, but after all that what is the pressure on them by liquor vendors?”

Meanwhile, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central and Maharashtra governments, questioning their ability to ensure security in light of recent high-profile attacks. Referring to the incident involving Saif Ali Khan, Kejriwal stated, “This morning we got the shocking news that Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by unknown people. He is currently undergoing treatment. I pray that he gets well soon, but it is a matter of concern that such a big actor who lives in such a safe place is attacked in his house in this manner, this raises questions on the state and central government.”

Kejriwal also highlighted previous incidents, saying, “Earlier Salman Khan was attacked; Baba Siddiqui was killed. If the BJP’s double-engine government cannot provide security to such big celebrities, then what about the common people?…”
