AAP Protests Near BJP HQ, Demands Release of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

AAP leaders and supporters staged a protest near the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg, demanding the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in CBI custody due to issues related to the Delhi government’s excise policy.

Earlier, Kejriwal had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the same policy. Despite being granted bail by a trial court, the Delhi High Court intervened and stayed the bail order.

Protesters gathered at the AAP office near the BJP headquarters, chanting slogans against the BJP and advocating for Kejriwal’s freedom. They displayed placards condemning what they perceive as the “misuse” of central agencies and demanding an end to “dictatorship.”

Security measures were heightened to prevent the demonstrators from marching towards the BJP headquarters, with barricades set up and paramilitary forces deployed on-site to maintain order. A senior police officer mentioned that detention of protesters could occur if deemed necessary, citing the enforcement of Section 144 of the CrPC at DDU Marg.
