A Polish woman, identified only as Malgorzata, has claimed she was held captive, tortured, and raped for four years by a man she met online, according to The Mirror. The man, Mateusz Jach, 35, allegedly imprisoned Malgorzata in a stone barn previously used for animals, where she was deprived of basic necessities such as electricity, running water, heating, and even sunlight, as the barn’s only window was bricked up.
During her captivity, the 30-year-old woman endured severe abuse, including being subjected to cruel experiments. Jach reportedly removed her lips and all her teeth as part of these experiments. Malgorzata also became pregnant during this time and was forced to give up her baby for adoption—a decision she did not want to make.
Her suffering came to public attention when she sought medical help for a dislocated shoulder. While in the hospital, she confided in another patient about her ordeal, leading the patient to alert the doctors. “While the woman was in hospital, she began talking to another patient about what had happened to her. They were speaking in confidence but the patient alerted the doctors about what had happened to her. She is in a really serious condition, both physically and psychologically,” sources told the Daily Mail.
Malgorzata shared harrowing details with Polish news site MyGlogow. She had been hospitalized multiple times during her captivity—first for a broken arm, then a broken leg, and later for giving birth. Her last hospitalization was for her dislocated shoulder. According to Łukasz Kaźmierczak, the journalist who reported the story, her shoulder was “very badly damaged.”
Malgorzata also revealed that Jach would cover her face with a balaclava to prevent her from knowing her location and would occasionally hose her down with cold water at night, though she sometimes received warm water as a reward for compliance.
Jach, 35, has been charged with mental, physical, and sexual abuse.
