Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch have found the white car after a manhunt that reportedly breached security at the Yellow Gate of the Mumbai Port Trust, catching CISF security personnel off guard.
The incident unfolded during the early hours of Saturday when the barricades at the Yellow Gate were briefly opened. Seemingly unnoticed by the CISF officials stationed at the gate, an unidentified white car gained unauthorized entry into the sensitive port premises. The breach was swiftly recognized by vigilant officials, who rushed towards the intruding vehicle in an attempt to thwart its progress.
As the vehicle made its way into the high-security zone, officials attempted to halt its advance. However, the driver of the white car executed a rapid and unexpected U-turn, eluding their grasp. The security personnel refrained from using their firearms to intercept the intruder at this highly sensitive location.
According to informed sources, one CISF officer made a valiant effort to stop the vehicle but inadvertently lost 20 live cartridges in the process. These cartridges are believed to have slipped from the officer’s breast pocket and ended up inside the fleeing vehicle, possibly through an open window.
CCTV footage captured the dramatic turn of events as the CISF officer confronted the escaping vehicle. Unfortunately, due to the darkness of the night, the CCTV cameras failed to capture the license plate of the white car. Nevertheless, law enforcement authorities are actively employing various techniques to track down the elusive vehicle.
Based on the available footage, the Yellow Gate Police, responsible for investigating the incident, determined that the errant driver was headed towards Mahim after departing from the Yellow Gate area.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel attempted to halt their vehicle, but it managed to evade capture temporarily. Nevertheless, a CISF officer managed to block the car as the suspects reversed. The officer pointed his gun at the driver, but the car managed to escape, and his gun magazine accidentally dropped into the vehicle during the encounter.
CISF authorities reported the incident to the Yellow Gate police station. Subsequently, law enforcement retrieved CCTV footage featuring the vehicle and, with the assistance of the state transport department, successfully identified it. They discovered the CISF officer’s missing gun magazine, which contained 20 cartridges.
Three individuals, identified as Gaurav Wagal (27), Shreyas Churi (25), and Abhishek Mangaonkar (24), were apprehended by Mumbai police for unlawfully entering a restricted area within the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT).
