In a significant breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police announced on Sunday the resolution of the Zaloora Sopore murder case, unveiling shocking details of a woman, allegedly aided by her lover, who murdered her husband and discarded his body in a nearby trench.
Reyaz Ahmed Mir (48) of Zaloora village was reported missing on Friday morning by his family, leading to a search operation headed by SHO PS Bomai, Bilal Khanday. The investigation led to the discovery of Reyaz’s body under mysterious circumstances in a sewage trench near his residence.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sopore, Shabir Nawab, “A case (FIR No 46/2023) had been registered. Further investigation uncovered the wife’s alleged involvement in an extramarital affair, with her lover confessing to planning and executing the murder. Both suspects are now in custody as investigations continue under the supervision of SDPO Zaingeer, and Syed Gazanfer.
Expressing concern over media trials and interference at the crime scene, SSP Nawab warned of strict action against portals involved in such activities. Adv Waseem Hassan, Chairperson of the Children Welfare Committee (CWC), Baramulla, called for responsible reporting, noting the disturbing nature of media trails surrounding the incident. The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) in Baramulla urged media outlets to delete content misinterpreting the sentiments of the affected children.
The deceased, a father of four, was found dead under mysterious circumstances, prompting relatives and neighbours to allege murder. Describing Reyaz as humble, pious, and religious, they insisted on a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.
Investigations continue as authorities work towards justice, seeking a fair and unbiased resolution to the tragic incident in Zaloora village, Sopore.
