In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police arrested five operatives of the Canada-based Lakhbir Landa gang on Sunday, recovering five foreign-made pistols in the process.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav shared the news on X, stating, “Commissionerate Police Jalandhar arrests five operatives of Canada-based Lakhbir Landa Gang in a 15-day operation. They were involved in arms and drug smuggling across the border, multiple heinous crimes such as murder, extortion, ransom, and numerous other criminal activities in various districts of Punjab.”

The DGP further emphasized that the Punjab Police are dedicated to eradicating organized crime in the state.

Earlier this month, the Punjab Police conducted raids at multiple hideouts associated with gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa. Bathinda Superintendent of Police Narinder Singh reported that a total of five individuals have been detained, with search operations ongoing.

On June 20, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out multi-state searches and arrested a key operative linked to designated terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, also known as Landa. The NIA’s operations spanned premises connected to 10 suspects across Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab, culminating in the arrest of Jaspreet Singh from Ferozepur district, Punjab.

During these searches, the NIA seized a 32-bore revolver, 69 cartridges of various bores, 100 grams of heroin, 100 grams of opium, Rs 2,20,500 in cash, and various digital devices from Jaspreet Singh, who was found to be associated with the foreign-based terrorist Landa.

In February, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force arrested three associates of terrorists Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, and Lakhbir Singh, alias Landa Harike. These arrests were part of the ongoing drive to eliminate organized crime from the state.
