Ahead of the Commonwealth games 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday interacted with the Indian players of the country participating in the Games. Through video conferencing PM spoke with the players. The Commonwealth Games and Chess Olympiad are starting from 28th July.

While interacting with players PM Modi said the next 15 days will be amazing for the Indian players and hoped that they will play the Commonwealth Games with full stamina. He also said that no need to take pressure, just play without any kind of stress.

“Today’s time is in a way the most important period in the history of Indian sports. Today, the spirit of players like you is also high, the training is also getting better and the atmosphere in the country towards sports is also tremendous. You are all climbing a new peak, making new summits,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister started the conversation with Avinash Sable, a 3000m steeplechase athlete. He wished him all the best for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and asked him some questions about his journey.

PM Modi also talked about the Chess Olympiad and said, “Today, as a lot of you may know is the beginning of the Chess olympiad as well. The next 10 days we will see many Indian athletes shining.”

Meanwhile, in the Commonwealth Games, around 217 athletes will represent India in 141 events. Of these players, 65 are those who will participate in these games for the first time. The Prime Minister has especially wished for these athletes.

However, giving the mantra of victory, PM told all the players that the goal is to see the tricolor flying. He further added I am sure that more than 65 athletes who are participating for the first time will also make a tremendous mark in these games. Significantly, before every big sporting event, PM Modi encourages all the players by talking to them.
