PM Narendra Modi attends the 42nd convocation of Anna University

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 42nd convocation of Anna University in Chennai on Friday. Prime Minister Modi was felicitated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at the 42nd convocation.

During the program, PM Modi awarded gold medals and certificated 69 gold medalists. Addressing an event PM Modi said, “The whole world is looking at India’s youth with hope. Because you are the growth engine of the country and India is the world’s growth engine. This is a huge honor and responsibility on all of you.”

Moreover, PM Modi also congratulated the parents of all those who are graduating. “My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation. They (Youths) will work out all problems like lions” – these words of Swami Vivekanand as the entire world today looks to the youth of India,” PM Modi further added.

During the event, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and Chief Minister MK Stalin were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, CM Stalin also addressed the gathering and said, “In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) list more are from Tamil Nadu. Anna University was named after former Chief Minister Anna. This degree is not only for you but for our country. Those who get a degree are a lamp for our country. This degree is not only a paper for knowledge. It is proud that PM gave convocation to you today. Religion, cast, power, growth, etc differs from nation to nation. Education is an asset which cannot be stolen that’s why our government gives importance to it. The Dravidian organization gives importance to education.”

Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister, K Ponmudy talked about the state ranks in hi ger education studies and said, “You should not only get a job but also give the job to others. Engineers should become entrepreneurs. Tamil Nadu is first in higher education studies. 56.5 percent of women get convocation today. The entrance exam was scrapped and abolished by late Chief Minister Karunanidhi so that the intake of 25,000 students per year should increase to 77,0000 engineering students per year in Tamil Nadu colleges.”

Notably, Anna University was established on September 4, 1978, and was named after C.N. Annadurai the former CM of Tamil Nadu. The University has 13 Constituent colleges, 494 Affiliated colleges, and 3 Regional campuses in Tirunelveli, Madhurai, and Coimbatore.
