Excitement runs high within party supporters and residents of Panchkula as Prime Minister Modi along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and several other dignitaries will be setting their foot on October 17 in Panchkula’s Sector 5 grounds for the oath ceremony of Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.
This would mark Modi’s second official visit to the district. The Prime Minister first arrived in Panchkula when BJP had won the Assembly elections in 2014 and Manohar Lal Khatter was crowned as the Chief Minister of the state. But the district has always felt like home to him as former Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta recalls the time when Modi was in-charge of Haryana and he resided in Sector 17 for an extended period.
‘Panchkula is not new to Modi. Many senior residents have seen Modi strolling around here with Manohar Lal, particularly near the area in Sector 5 where the oath-taking ceremony will take place. Modi’s blessings have always been with Panchkula.’ Stated Gupta.
While interacting with party supporters and workers, many expressed their excitement to see the Prime Minister in person. ‘When my husband and I left Aam Aadmi Party during campaigning, we were welcomed with open arms by BJP. Since then, we have only seen a progressive journey. We had never imagined that the Prime Minister would come to meet us in person. There is nothing more motivating than this.’ Said Deepika Sehdev, a BJP party supporter.
‘The security is tight but I will ensure to see him and hear his speech. Modi has helped our country achieve new heights and despite being a busy man, he is still making his way to see us.’ Said Sandeep Sharma, a resident of Sector 9.
‘BJP will be forming a government in the state for third time in a row and they did it against all odds. Modi has done a lot for our country and it is matter of great honour that he is arriving in Panchkula.’ Said Himani, a resident of Sector 14.
October 17 will mark as a historic day as BJP will form their government in Haryana for third time in a row and Nayab Singh Saini will be crowned as the new Chief Minister for the state. Crowds are expected to come in thousands for the occasion. To ensure the smooth functioning of the occasion, several government officials along with senior BJP leaders have put their days and nights together on the arrangements of the event.
A special focus has been given to the security since as many as forty DCPs across the state along with 15-20 IPS have arrived in the city. According to the police spokesperson, around 30-40 companies across the state along with Special Protection Group (SPG) arrived in the city. Rehearsals were performed for the event throughout the day. ‘We are fully prepared for the oath ceremony. All arrangements have been made and now we cannot wait to see our hard work in action.’ Said the officials.
